A bad marketing example is the Iridium satellite phone system from the 1990s. A good idea, a phone that could be used anywhere in the world. They spent billions putting satellites into space only to have the company flop because there were very few customers willing to pay the high price for the service. They could have learned this from a simple market survey.

New product at too low of a price

Kozmo.com had a great idea and a great product. A one hour delivery of snacks and a DVD. Only problem, the delivery cost more than the profit received and after a short burst of success they quickly went under.
